Pencil thin

A big fear for women, when I start riffling through their closets for a Wardrobe Detox, is that I’m going to start turfing everything out. Bagging and binning all their favourite pieces of clothing.  The word detox doesn’t mean I’m going to throw out everything that is old, looks tired or doesn’t fit because at the end of the day it is your wardrobe and I am simply there to guide you and show you what suits your body and looks good.  If you want to keep something for it’s sentimental value or you know that one day you’ll get back into it then of course it needs to stay put.

This skirt is a perfect example of just that.  What with it being part of a suit {you know how I love a skirt suit} I was never keen to let it go even though le deri-ass hadn’t been able to fit into it for sometime.  I knew one day those cyclist thighs of mine would slim down and it would be easier to wear, then move, then sit down in.  Well that day came my Shoelets.  After a week of swimming everyday I am very happy to be back in  my sunshine yellow pencil skirt and am very glad it isn’t gracing the window of my local ‘Save the children’

Mini Matador

I showcased this makeshift suit back in January when I first bought the wee velvet shorts.  Now they’re back in a whole other styling.  I’ve been wanting to wear this mini matador outfit ever since I came back from Spain and was influenced by the bull fighters outfits.  Their cropped bolero jackets and their tight bottoms…Oooo hallo!

What with a theatre date coming up with girls who don’t do skirts or dresses {remember them from last summer? See here} I knew this velvet two piece with my birthday heels would go down a treat.

{vintage velvet jacket from nyc, vintage velvet shorts from reign, reworked gifted cotton top, m&s sunnies and heels, kimchi bag}

Of course the most beneficial part of this whole ensemble is the lunge-ability.  When you can lunge in an outfit I don’t really think anything else matters. Photographic evidence of a double lunge for you below.  Don’t say I don’t ever give you anything!

Summer suit

Having mentioned last week that I was OBSESSED with the skirt suit, I thought I’ d showcase another one for you.

{m&s sunnies, american apparel white vest, gifted spotty vest, orla kiely suit, folk shoes, remeber2morrow paper beads}

If there is a matching bottoms – skirt, trews, shorts – to a jacket that you’re looking at then I would always suggest buying the set.  There might not be many occasions that you’ll wear them together but you’ll get use out of them as separates and that one time when you do want to dazzle and look sleek – exactly what a suit can do, my Shoelets! – then you’ll be able to with out the use of a cardigan – STEP AWAY FROM THOSE CARDIES LADIES!!!!!!!

To stop it looking too ‘worky’ simply balance out with different textures {velvet, jersey, lace}, put tees underneath, pile on lots of jewellery, roll the sleeves and pop the collar, wear with a boot…..da da dum, da da dum and the beat goes on.

Never give up {on leather}

I bought this leather gillet in NYC last year in a vintage store crammed full of gems.  I’d found the shop the time before I was there last but hadn’t taken a card to remember where it was.  I had to sniff it out Kids!  I have a freakily good memory, retraced my steps about where I had been and found it again.  As expected I wasn’t disappointed with what treats lay inside for me.

I bought this leather waistcoat for $12 and I also bought this little beauty.

I don’t mind telling you all that I have struggled with how to wear it, My Shoelets.  You’ve seen it before {here and here} but something about it didn’t feel right and it came to the point where I placed it in my ‘To sell on Ebay pile’

I KNOW! TERRIBLE! I’ve had it less than a year and I was giving up on it already.  The thing is I know that it will look great with skinny jeans, killer heels and a skimpy ‘i have kate moss boobs’ vest underneath but in reality when do I ever do that look?  The answer is not often and I wish I could but hips and a JLo/KKardashian sized behind do not lend themselves to this look very well.

Then I saw the Man Repeller ~ Check her shizal here

She went and I followed….The gillet/Waistcoat/any other things I can call it?/sleeveless jacket {you know I love those see here} was whipped out of that Ebay pile and placed back on my shoulders.

I realised she should always be worn open.  I tell my clients this all the time ~ Do not do up that jacket/cardigan/trench coat ~ keep it open, wear it loose and as an accessory as opposed to an actual coat then let it work it’s magic.

SHE’S BACK …..and she’s showcasing Stegosaures hair with it.

ENJOY!

Suit you

After yesterday’s gorgeous post {see here if you missed it} I was so excited to head into Tiny Wardrobe and pull out an outfit that made me as well as everyone else feel like smiling!  I’m such a big fan of a suit {see here and here} but had never worn this self designed high-waisted skirt and mini jacket combo together.  Seperately they’d been loved…but never had they stepped out hand in hand as lovers.

{grandma wyn’s burberry trench, self-designed suit, reworked shirt, m&s socks, beau coops booties, vintage handbag}

The best thing about this outfit was showcasing my new Beau Coops booties that I per-chased this weekend.  As soon as I saw them I knew they were the missing link in my wardrobe….Watch out because these babies are going to be on my feet ALOT this summer!

Soft rose and sweet orange

Somtimes certain colours are just meant to live together.

{chapeau claudette hat, gifted faux fur stole, vintage coat and clutch, chazzer shazzer suit, m&s cashmere joomp and heeled brogues, mytights.com tights}

Remember this skirt when she was whipped up into an angel delight? {here}  Well, She’s actually part of a suit that I found in a chazzer shazzer a couple of years ago.  I scooped her up for a mere £8, had the jacket cropped and found myself with a stunning new skirt suit.

Because she’s quite an unusual shade of pink I love mixing her with soft colours – lemon meringue, biscuit base, sweet orange peel, soft paloma grey – Black would be too harsh, bright blue too damaging to the eyes but I can’t wait to try her with a navy or ….you know me! {here} some sort of green hue {hefner}

Believe in the power of the Chazzer Shazzers my Shoelets…You never know what you might find.  Check out my tips on successfully scoring in one here.

Little Lord Fauntleroy

Ta Da!!! SO here are my new velvet bottoms that I posted in Friday’s Tree Tings {here} Did you expect them to be shorts?  I bet you dinnet!!

{vintage velvet jacket from nyc, vintage velvet shorts from reign, american apparel joomp, mytights.com tights, folk brogues}

I bought this jacket years ago in a little vintage store called Cobblestones in New York and it has been so handy over the years.  I had a pair of black high waisted trousers made to go with it and loved the fact that I had a little suit to wear.  Alas the ass spread and the trousers could no longer accomadate her.  They left my wardrobe for pastures new and I wondered if Le Velve Jacket would ever find a partner again.

Hell yeah she did!  Sale velvet shorts – High waisted and comfy.  What more does a girl need?

….Ryan Gosling as her boyfriend!! That’s what she needs!!!
